Hidden Gems of Daylesford and the Surrounds
If immersing yourself in quirky cafés, galleries, wineries and relaxing with a luxurious spa treatment sounds like an ideal way to spend a weekend away from Melbourne, get yourself to Hepburn Springs and Daylesford.
Here are a few hidden gems to visit:
Tuki Trout Farm – Smeaton
Wander Fish Feast...
This exceptional property offers something for everyone. Families wanting to reconnect again, can escape the crazy of the everyday with a morning of fishing in one of the trout-filled dams. What better way to spend some time with the people you love than throwing in a line, enjoying a stunning 80km view of Loddon Campaspe Valley and sharing the thrill of catching a fish together?
Chef Ben O’Brien creates delectable dishes centred around seasonal produce and can even prepare and cook up the caught trout should you wish. Owners Robert and Jan are authentic, country hosts and committed to make your experience memorable.
Daylesford Cider – Daylesford
Do you love your cider?
Daylesford Cider produce a range of craft ciders made using the 17 varieties of English-heritage listed apples grown organically on the farm just outside Daylesford. The ciders are also English in style, ranging from traditional ‘still’ with an almost-bone dry palate, through to lightly carbonated and sweeter styles.
It seems fitting that the ciders are sold from an English style Tavern cellar door where people can kick back in the courtyard and landscaped gardens. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas and the kitchen is open for lunch Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday.
